Ray Toombs

Ray Toombs enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and trained as a Hospital Corpsman. His initial assignment was in Khe Sanh, Vietnam, as a Combat Medic, where he spent a year serving the U.S. Marine Corps. After he reached the rank of Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class in 1970 and completed his tour, he left the service and attended the University of Akron. While in college, Toombs joined the Army Reserve as a medic. He later attended Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing in Massillon, Ohio, on a full scholarship and received a direct Commission to 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. During his military career, Major Toombs earned multiple awards, including the Purple Heart (2), Army Meritorious Service Medal (4), and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat Valor.
In 2003, Toombs and his wife, Margie, purchased the Canton, Ohio Maid Brigade franchise, which has experienced 15 to 20 percent growth per year.
